Rumor has it that Google may have chosen Asus to make the sequel to the Nexus 10, effectively giving Samsung the boot. Asus has made both the first and latest Nexus 7 tablets, so it’s not unbelievable that it could take the helm for the upcoming Nexus 10.
The current Nexus 10 model ships with an ultra high-resolution display, and starts at a very reasonable price of $399. If the successor of the tablet follows the latest Nexus 7, we have our doubts that it will retain its current pricing. Still, we also have our doubts that it will hit the $500 mark.
The Nexus 10 2 is expected to ship later this year during the holiday season, with Android Key Lime Pie. While still a rumor, the latter sounds believable enough, as we’re expecting the next version of Android to be announced some this fall.
Geek.com has managed to find an image of the tablet spotted in the inventory system of a retail store. The image mentions that the device will indeed be made by Asus. Whether or not this is hard proof remains to be seen, as we’re not expecting to see the device until a few months from now, but the image is rather telling.
Frankly, we don’t really care what company ends up making the upcoming Nexus 10 sequel. Asus has been producing some fine tablet devices, so we certainly take no issue if it’s been tapped for the next full-sized Nexus tablet.
