MyTouch Slide screenshots galore!

The MyTouch Slide, bound for T-Mobile at some point, has come from a seemingly low-end, ugly, me-too device, to a decent mid-ranged follow-up. I definitely wouldn’t mind playing around with one, and even more so with the new screen shots of HTC’s special flavor of Sense for the new device.

The Slide (codenamed Espresso) sports HTC’s Sense UI. But, to spice things up a bit, the MyTouch Slide adds a couple new elements to Sense UI, making it a slightly different experience than that of the Hero, Droid Eris, and now Droid Incredible. From the screenshots we’re seeing, it looks like the icons now have a slight bubble around them, which will definitely draw some flack from people saying that it’s just an iPhone copy of the UI. We think that, while it might be reminiscent of  the iPhone’s style, the Sense UI as a whole, is not.

All of the platforms have started crossing each other’s path. If iPhone 4 get Facebook integration, one would not say that they are copying Android. Anyway..

One of the cool features that you’ll be able to expect from the device is the ability to change themes. It looks like there are some pre-made themes built right into the OS itself. Other noticeable features that can be seen from the screenshots are that the notification panel houses a “Recent” section, which shows your last four applications that were opened – all of them just a finger-swipe away. This is not to say holding the home button down is hard, but some people may not actually think to use that function.

It’s nice to see a HTC Sense variation, even if it slight. The MyTouch Slide is looking nicer and nicer every time I see it, and I may just have to get one. As a backup phone, it’s a no-brainer. Even with spotty 3G reception, the Nexus One still takes the cake for me. Thankfully, my Nexus One and I are in an open relationship, allowing me to see other phones.
