Lookout – impressive claims incoming……

MusicStation, the unlimited download service from Omnifone (and available exclusively on Vodafone UK) is apparently now the UK’s largest digital music subscription service, overtaking even PC-based services….crumbs!

We’ve written about Omnifone’s MusicStation offering numerous times before, but this really is quite an impressive achievement. The CEO of Omnifone was quite bullish about it too:

“MusicStation makes the traditional ‘PC centric’ model, where users have to download music to PC before transferring it to a portable device, an unnecessary and outdated concept,” said Rob Lewis, CEO of Omnifone. “With MusicStation, Vodafone consumers have the freedom to download as much music as they want, direct to a wide range of mobiles over the data network, anywhere, at any time, without the need for a computer, an internet connection, wires or even a credit card.”

I have no idea how the stats are compiled and compared to come up these kinds of statements, but as I said, if it’s true, then it’s quite an achievement – with a number of other heavy-hitting players in the market, Omnifone are definitely punching above their weight!

MusicStation is available to download on a wide range of Vodafone mobiles in the UK directly from Vodafone live! free of charge. The latest MusicStation handsets are available in Vodafone and Phones 4u stores and online at www.vodafone.co.uk.

Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas! He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to 'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device) isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question of why you continue to use it... His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the occasional look at devices.
