Novatel demos NovaSpeed at CTIA SF 2008

Between fits of gluttonous food intake and unabashed alcohol consumption, we somehow found some time to speak with some well-informed representatives over at the Novatel booth.

Novatel came to CTIA SF 2008 packing some serious new technology that should help mobile broadband users get the most out of their wireless card or USB dongle. NovaSpeed, as Novatel calls it, is basically a data transfer management technology that squeezes every last bit of wireless data out of your mobile broadband connection.

By cleverly managing the upload and download data streams, NovaSpeed can increase downstream data speeds by up to 400%. Mobile warriors who find themselves struggling to balance upload and download tasks will benefit the most from NovaSpeed. If you’re uploading a video while downloading a song, you’ll quickly find that your little mobile broadband card starts to bog down. That’s because you’re not efficiently using all your bandwidth.

With NovaSpeed, the downstream data is pulled down much faster while maintaining the upstream data transfer. The video below shows two computers battling it out to load a YouTube video – both with data uploads proceeding in the background. Check out NovaSpeed in action:
