Now here’s a cool idea. Optimus had made a keyboard awhile back that had small OLED screens built into each key, allowing the whole layout to be reprogrammed and re-represented – just a bit of a mindbender. Designer Billy May has applied the same idea to a BlackBerry 7130, giving us a very interesting idea about the future of mobile web browsing. As you can see, the keys have some static navigation keys that would seriously curb the problem of learning keyboard shortcuts, and the other half of the keyboard has programmable shortcuts in there. For straight-up text entry, OLED keys also provide some help to SureType by highlighting the letters most likely to be used when pressed.
