The leaked footage of the BlackBerry Storm 2 was a good sign that the next-gen touchscreen BlackBerry was headed to Verizon in the near future, revamped SurePress screen in tow. Turns out, it’s little more than a month away. New leaked documentation from Boy Genius points to an October. The Storm 2 will be launching on Verizon Wireless in October, alongside Motorola’s first Android-powered smartphone – the Motorola Sholes. There’s also mention of launch windows for the BlackBerry Curve 2, HTC Blitz 2, LG Chocolate Touch, Samsung Rogue and the Nokia Twist 7705.

The ongoing saga that is the BlackBerry Storm’s SurePress touchscreen technology will apparently come to an end in October. With a more responsive click-screen and faster performance, the Storm 2 might finally give SurePress naysayers something else to talk about. The month of October is as specific a launch date as we know, price is still TBD.

Possibly more exciting is the impending “late October” launch of the Motorola Sholes Android smartphone. We’d heard that the Moto Sholes might be packing a new TI OMAP 3430 processor, GPS, WiFi, 5-megapixel camera and a 3.7-inch touchscreen. That unfortunate red d-pad? Let’s hope not. If the October launch window holds, this holiday shopping season should be fun times.

Rounding out the list, we see that the Samsung Rogue is expected to go live in August (aka. really, really soon) for $370; the Nokia Twist 7705 coming to market in late September for $230, alongside the Samsung Intensity for $160; the LG Chocolate Touch and HTC Blitz 2 should hit in October, with the Chocolate Touch priced at $230 and the Blitz 2′s price yet to be determined; and the BlackBerry Curve 2 launching in November, price TBD.

We’ll see what the next few months brings us.
