TranquiliCity is a brand new application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that guides users to relaxing locations throughout New York City. Included in the app are selected serene parks, soothing day spas, quiet meditation spots, rejuvenating yoga studios, waterfront retreats, secret sanctuaries and more.

Allan Ishac created the app and he’s the same guy who wrote New York’s 50 Best Places to Find Peace and Quiet. In other words, you can say that TranquiliCity comes right from the horse’s mouth, and is touted to be ideal for native New Yorkers, business travelers, the stressed out and the tensed up, and anyone else looking for a calming counterpoint in the “city that never sleeps.”

There are more than 100 sanity-restoring entries in Manhattan and the five boroughs, with distances, directions, descriptions and photographs. Locations are sorted into 12 categories including public spaces, parks, spiritual centers, museums, gardens, quiet restaurants and more. In addition to browsing, you can also search for TranquiliCity entries by name or distance from your current location. Finally, thanks to the “Favorites” feature, you can bookmark your favorite spots for faster access at a later point…
