Windows Phone users can start to hold their heads up high when it comes to apps, as the platform is slowly catching up to the iPhone and Android. The latest app to land is the popular Foodspotting app, so foodies with Windows Phone 7 should download this immediately.

For those of you not aware, the Foodspotting app is sort of a social network for individual dishes. It’s not quite Yelp though because it’s focused on certain plates and items. It’s a neat way to keep track of your food and I’ve found the community to be quite awesome.

An interesting thing about the Foodspotting app for Windows Phone is that it’s clear that Microsoft really helped it out. It’s not clear if it paid cash to get this app developed but listen to what Foodspotting says on its blog:

Thanks to Microsoft’s support and developer advocate program, we were able to launch this app in record time! Microsoft was instrumental – providing guidance and design recommendation to ensure that the Foodspotting Windows Phone app is easy to use and delivers great performance.

Whatever the reason, the Foodspotting app is now available for free on Windows Phone and that’s a good thing. Download it and let us know what you think.
