Sad news folks, Asus decided to delay its smartphone/tablet product, Padfone, until February 2012. Yep that unfortunately means the device I talked about (mostly praising it) for couple of times in the past won’t be available for the Christmas shopping season.
I guess the reason is that the Taiwanese company won’t have time to properly “implement” the new version of Android, which tablet “version” (I thought this is a unifying release?) will be released in early December. Related to that, Asus will start shipping the upcoming Eee Pad Transformer Prime with Honeycomb on board, offering the Ice Cream Sandwich update shortly afterwards. That’s a fair proposition and I’m sure something they need to do to catch some of that holiday shopping spirit… you know when everyone goes crazy buying all the things they need. As far as I can tell, the new Transformer tablet is definitely ready for the Prime time, and we’re looking to play with one shortly. 😉
