More Galaxy Nexus info – Verizon’s variant sacrifices sexiness for speed

While the UK is currently enjoying the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the US is left with vague, unconfirmed release dates. Still, Google didn’t leave the US completely out, as it’s updated the Galaxy Nexus landing page with more specifications for Verizon’s LTE version, as well as some new videos to showcase the handset and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Galaxy Nexus: HSPA+ = 8.94 mm LTE = 9.47 mm

We already knew that the LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus would be thicker than the HSPA+ version but it’s a bit sad to see how much thicker Verizon’s variant looks next to the GSM counterpart. It’s not all that bad but the sleek and sexy look isn’t retained with the LTE version and given that there’s virtually no other carrier announcing availability anytime soon, we may be stuck with Verizon for some time. Your only other option would be to buy an unlocked version of the handset, as it will work on T-Mobile and AT&T just fine.

With that out of the way, how about some videos? Google has released a few instructional videos for getting started with Ice Cream Sandwich, as well as a new ad for the phone itself. Enjoy!
