Samsung announced another external disc drive that can be connected to a tablet. Model number SE-218CB is described as 18% thinner and 8% lighter, and is additionally equipped with features like Smart Power Technology to make the drive consume less power.

But that’s not all as this optical disc drive also supports AV Connectivity to play multimedia content onto the tablet and act as a portable hard disk. Plus, let’s not forget that it comes with Smart Archive Technology, bringing recording quality that is optimized for DVDs used to store content for an extended time. The technology follows standard DVD formatting which is compatible with both archival discs (ISO10995 standard) and qualified normal discs.

Finally, if you wonder, yes – we do expect to play with one of these during next few days in Las Vegas…
