Early build of Ice Cream Sandwich for the GSM Motorola RAZR leaks

There may be many different Android devices in the world today but there are still only a handful of decent custom user interfaces available. While we prefer stock Android over anything else, HTC’s Sense UI has been a favorite for many people for a while now. However, one thing we’ve never heard before is someone saying that they prefer Motorola’s custom UI Motoblur over anything else. Well, some of the first shots of the Motorola RAZR playing nice with Ice Cream Sandwich and Motoblur have arrived and some of you Read more

Motorola Mobility files lawsuit against Apple citing patent infringements

Motorola Mobility is suing Apple for infringing on six of its patents. The patents in question are related to wireless antennas, software, messaging, and data management — quite a bit of the entire experience of a smartphone is on the line here. Apple allegedly uses these patents in the iPhone 4S and iCloud. The lawsuit was filed in Florida today and it’s just the latest battle in the larger smartphone patent wars. “Apple’s infringing activities have caused and will continue to cause Motorola Mobility irreparable harm, for which it has Read more

Motorola to heavily invest in Android ‘smart actions’ in 2012

Motorola says that moving forward in 2012, it will invest in something it calls “smart actions” for Android. These act as prompts to change your settings based on the different things you do with your smartphone and we liked what we saw when this debuted on the Droid Razr. For instance, if the phone notices you’ve been missing a lot of calls lately, it will recommend you turn up the ringer volume. You can also set modes that kick into gear automatically, like a “Sleep” mode that will put your Read more

If you’re waiting to get your hands on the Droid Razr Maxx, you’ll be happy to know that Verizon Wireless said the device will be available Jan. 26 for about $300 with a new, two-year contract. Internally, the Droid Razr Maxx isn’t much different than the Droid Razr but it packs a huge battery inside. While this battery means that it won’t be as thin as the Razr, Motorola is promising that this will have the best battery life of any 4G LTE phone. If this thing can truly deliver Read more

Motorola RAZR in white will hit the British market in mid/late February when interested folks will be able to buy it for 430 GBP (roughly $664) unlocked. You can already pre-order the sexy device from Clove and wait for about 20 days to get it. Alternatively, I’m sure other phone retailers as well as mobile operators themselves will add the white RAZR in their respective portfolios, allowing folks to grab the device for less (free) with a carrier contract. The timing is horrible since the Mobile World Congress starts in Read more

EU to approve or deny Google’s Motorola Mobility acquisition by Feb. 13

The European Commission says it has set a deadline of Feb. 13, 2012 to decide whether or not to give its blessing for the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google. Google recently brought forth new documents — which are now under review by the EU — in support of the move, which will cost more than $12 billion. Had Google not brought these to the table, the original deadline for the EU’s decision was January 10th and we would have had known the acquisition’s fate by now. “We’re confident the Read more

Motorola Mobility invests in social startup Shaker

Motorola Mobility has announced that it will be investing in a hot new startup that will probably grow dramatically in 2012: Shaker. Shaker is a different kind of social networking experiences that brings your friends together in a virtual environment (think Habbo Hotel or IMVU but in a bar setting) to chat with friends and meet new friends of friends. It won the award for best startup at TechCrunch Disrupt for 2011, although I like to think that oh-so-clever “Where Things Happen” slogan is contributing greatly to its success. Just as Read more

It will be rolling out in waves over the next few weeks, so check your notification on the device. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will bring multiple new features but the largest impact probably won’t be felt for a while. This version of the software should unify the phone and tablet versions of Android, so it will be Read more

Now that the Motorola Droid 4 has been officially announced not many folks will want the old DROID 3. It’s still a solid device though it lacks LTE connectivity, making it too slow for modern geeks. Of course, you’ll still have to put your signature on a new two-year contract but that’s like a given these days. Again the DROID 3′s specs include a dual-core processor, 4-inch qHD Read more
