Contact UsSamsung announced today that it is updating TecTiles, its programmable NFC tags, to version 2. The latest version of the TecTiles will work with the Galaxy S 4, as well as older NFC-equipped Samsung phones. TecTile stickers have a small NFC receiver that sends a signal to your smartphone. This signal then triggers an action on your phone such as opening an app, adjusting phone settings, or updating a status on Facebook or Google+. At the end of April, Samsung announced a new Galaxy tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. A new leaked press photo from SamMobile shows that Samsung is also planning an 8-inch version of the device, dubbed the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. HTC’s supply issues with its flagship smartphone the HTC One are seemingly coming to an end. According to a report from Focus Taiwan, HTC’s North Asian president Jack Tong stated that HTC will be doubling production of the HTC One this month to keep up with the strong demand for the device. “Our capacity is expected to rise significantly starting from mid-May. The Galaxy S4 launched in late April and has become the fastest selling smartphone in Samsung’s history. Samsung co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun told the Korea Times that the manufacturer is close to selling over 10M Galaxy S4 units in less than a month. LG is apparently planning to beef-up its Optimus G line with a water-proof model. The Korean company has started sending out press invites for a May 22nd event in Taiwan, where it may unveil a slightly beefed-up version of the Optimus G. The new thing is IPX7 certification that makes sure the forthcoming Optimus GJ can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water, for 30 minutes. ASUS announced a slightly beefed-up version of the Fonepad in Taiwan. Instead of rocking a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor and 16GB of internal storage, the new model comes with faster 1.6GHz Z2460 CPU and 32GB of memory (plus a microSD card slot if that’s not enough for you). Sony’s upcoming Xperia UL smartphone has been caught in the wild on its way to Japan’s KDDI. Not all details are available at the moment, but we do know that this Sony handset will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, which is also used in the LG Optimus G Pro and some versions of Samsung’s Galaxy S4. Kaspersky Lab has teamed-up with Qualcomm to pre-install its anti-virus software on Snapdragon-powered Android devices. Under the deal, vendors using Qualcomm’s chips will get special terms to offer Kaspersky’s software preloaded on their devices.
