Contact UsOh poor Steve Ballmer. Not only is the Microsoft CEO having a tough time gaining traction in the smartphone space and now Forbes is naming him “the worst CEO of a large publicly traded American company today.” Yikes. The argument against Ballmer goes like this: Microsoft’s stock was much higher when he took over and he has failed to properly position the company to be at the forefront of the most popular trends in technology. It also doesn’t help that Apple used to be a gadfly to Microsoft but it … Read more
When it comes to customer satisfaction, Apple dominates and RIM struggles. The 2012 ACSI report was the first time Apple, RIM, HTC, and LG were included in the cell phone manufacturer satisfaction category, making for an interesting inaugural cellular satisfaction report. The 2012 report shows that Apple has amassed a staggering 83% customer satisfaction ranking, becoming the first cellular company to break the 80% mark. Apple was a full 8 percentage points ahead of Nokia, HTC, and LG, who shared the number 2 spot at a 75% rating. Motorola and Samsung … Read more
The US Postal Service has announced a ban on international shipments of devices that contain lithium-ion batteries, such as phones, tablets, cameras, and most other electronic equipment. USPS claims that lithium-ion batteries can catch fire or spontaneously combust if not fully charged or stored/packed incorrectly. Two separate fatal cargo plane crashes since 2006 have been blamed on lithium-ion battery packages, according to FastCompany. The ban goes into effect May 16th. According to CNET, those hit hardest by the ban are U.S. soldiers traveling abroad. Friends and family in the US … Read more
Popular professional social media service LinkedIn has launched a Windows Phone application. The application went live over the weekend (May 12th, to be exact), and has already amassed some positive reviews on the Windows Phone Marketplace. It seems Windows Phone users are happy to finally have a client that is markedly better than using the mobile version of LinkedIn’s website. Of course, there are some bugs with the 1.0 version release; the first market rating (as of this writing) notes that the “display is sideways” and that he keeps receiving … Read more
Texting while walking has been banned in the northern New Jersey town of Ft. Lee since March, but officers are now strictly enforcing the measure after three fatal pedestrian-involved accidents this year. Police Chief Thomas Ripoli states that texting while walking is “a big distraction,” adding that “pedestrians aren’t watching where they are going and they are not aware [of their surroundings].” Ripoli has ordered officers to begin enforcing the law, and has started issuing $85 tickets to offenders. More than 117 tickets have been issued since enforcement of the law … Read more
Microsoft is set to release a software update either this month or next month to Windows Phone devices currently on the market. Known as Tango, the update adds things like being able to MMS multiple images, forward your calls, turn your device into a hotspot, and there are probably countless under the hood tweaks that we’ll hear about whenever Microsoft makes this update official. Tango’s most notable feature, which isn’t demonstrated in the video below, is the ability to run on lower end hardware. Whereas every Windows Phone that’s been … Read more

Since Apple released the iPhone 4S in October, its flagship feature Siri has been able to help tremendously in users’ daily lives with productivity and even offering advice. In fact, I bet you didn’t know it can help you with buying or recommending a smartphone. So what’s the best phone out there? According to Siri, the Nokia Lumia 900 is. Yes, this is one of those twisted stories in tech when something doesn’t go quite as expected and the story ends up being a bit humorous. Apple’s Siri integrates Wolfram … Read more
Samsung has just announced a new Windows Phone called the Omnia M. It has a 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, 4 inch Super AMOLED display, 7.2 Mbps 3G connectivity, and a decently sized 1,500 mAh battery. What makes it strange though is that it has 384 MB of RAM. That’s not enough to run the full version of Windows Phone 7.5, but it’s also too much to run the low end version of Windows Phone 7.5. The Lumia 610 for example, Nokia’s “cheap” Windows Phone, has an 800 MHz … Read more
Well, the free ride is over for those of you who like to use HTC’s Windows Phone GPS application called ‘Locations’. The app will now carry a price tag for its navigation services. This offering from the Taiwanese based manufacturer was a counter to Nokia’s offering for its Lumia Windows Phones. I guess all good things must come to an end, right? No one has a clue why HTC is taxing users for its navigation application, but it could suggest that the cost to operate the app began to take … Read more
ZTE wants to grow its Windows Phone business beyond Europe and Asia, and eventually bring its smartphones to the U.S. We guess they’re talking about the Tania handset, though as far as we know they may have some other products in the pipeline, as well. At the moment, the Chinese company has a number of low-to-mid range devices on sale across U.S. carriers (some of which are Android-based) and offering a Windows Phone device could prove beneficial for their bottom line. Moreover, with ZTE entering the picture, customers get another … Read more
