Will: HTC Upgrades For Windows Mobile 6.0, T-mobile Wing, And The Window XP Phone

windows mobileWow, I just can’t get over it. After fretting for months over how I was gonna get Windows Mobile 6.0 onto my HTC P4350, we get news from HTC that they are going to make that an easy proposition. I can’t wait to get that new-phone-feel back on my Herald. And, just to make things interesting, the newest crap-phone to come out of China is that Window XP phone. When is it going to stop?

Finally, great news for HTC smartphone owners (well, at least some of us)! HTC has gone official with their Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade for recently released smartphones. We’re gonna get some more stability and faster load times with the new OS tucked under our screens! I think I just wet myself thinking about the impending release of WinMo6.0 (you like that Dusan?) for my Herald. It’s just too bad that Sprint’s Moto Q will be left out in the cold – no WinMo6.0 for you Sprint Q users.

And speaking of stability, I hear ya Dusan. Damnit, you got me on that one. We all know that Microsoft isn’t the best in terms of stability, but I can easily run 5 or more applications at the same time with a stable OS. The only stability problems I experience are from third party apps that just seem to hog memory (that’s gonna happen when you have millions of third party apps out there – what’s Symbian’s count? 🙂 ). That’s okay though, all we need is a quick reset and all is fixed. I know resetting Symbian device can be painfully long, but my WinMo device reboots nice and quick!

We got wind of some changes to the upcoming T-mobile “Wing“, well, we shouldn’t call it the “Wing” anymore since T-mobile execs want to change the name. Apparently, they didn’t like the “Wing” but were fine with Dash. Go figure. Either way, the launch date is expected to move up to compete with other carriers’ offerings.

And, as a testament to the power of Windows around the world, we found that downright stupid Window XP phone coming out of China (it’s always China). We didn’t make a typo there. I guess the higher-ups (and they must’ve been pretty high when they made this thing) thought “Window XP” was different enough from “Windows XP” to get around trademark lawsuit – think again guys. I have a feeling that you’re gonna have some men in black suits come knockin’ on your door!

Quick plug: keep an eye out for tips on how to keep your WinMo device running nice and smooth, and hopefully more stable that it is now!
