As the title implies, the team setup a fly-by-night cell phone store and convinced potential buyers to pony up a deposit for a new cell phone. When the unsuspecting customer returns to the shop, on promise of a new phone, they find the shop closed and gone.
Make sure you aren’t the next poor sap to get suckered into a cell phone scam.
- Only give deposits to reputable corporate stores
- Avoid giving deposits to 3rd party dealers – no phone, no cash
- Always get a receipt
