Samsung Galaxy S II, Infuse 4G going to Canada

When Samsung brought out the new Galaxy S II at MWC this year, everyone went nuts. The phone has some great features like the 1.2Ghz processor and that incredible AMOLED Plus display, and it seems the lucky folks in Canada will be the first in North American to enjoy them. Yesterday Samsung updated their websites to show an almost unnoticeable coming soon sticker on their Galaxy S II Canada ad and speculations are already underway. Some sites are already expecting this new phone to be brought to Rogers, Bell and TELUS in Canada as early as July.

Along with this, Samsung also announced that the Infuse 4G will be heading up north to the good people of Canada. The Infuse 4G is an Android 2.3 powered, 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus device that’s only 8.99 mm thin, and runs on the Rogers HSPA+ network. This new phone was released in the United States for AT&T as a good “until we get it” replacement to the Galaxy S II. If this phone was released as a competitor to the Galaxy S II, then it certainly might just make your decision a little bit harder than it usually would.

Both phones have been through our reviewing process and came out looking pretty good. The Galaxy S II had similar disadvantages as the Infuse 4G, with reviewers saying they both suffer from not-so-great call quality, and other build issues. Now, both phones produce excellent images from their 8MP HD capable camera, and when looking at the end product, the Super AMOLED Plus display really leaves you looking down on lesser displays.

To go through some of the features of the specs of Galaxy S II we reviewed last month… The phone has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, Super AMOLED Plus 800 x 480 display. Underneath the amazing screen is an evenly impressive 1.2 GHz dual core processor, that allows for 1080p HD video recording from the phone’s 8MP camera. The phone comes in 16GB and 32GB variants, and of course it does support microSDHC for up to 32GB more memory, but it’s not hotswappable. The Infuse 4G on the other hand has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, with a single core 1.2GHz processor, Android 2.3, comes with only a 16GB variant, and runs on HSPA+ with support for Wi-Fi (b/g/n).

Who here is looking forward to getting these new Samsung devices on their carrier’s shelves?
