Juniper Research issued another press release dealing with prospects of the mobile adult video content. According to the research company, tablet owners present a specially interesting group for the content providers, with the user base set to triple by 2015.
Tablet owners are generally more affluent than the average user and are more likely than smartphone users to own a credit card, even in emerging markets. This means that this group is likely to spend more, and more often on mobile adult content than the average smartphone user. All said, revenues generated on tablets are expected to increase by more than five times by 2017.
However, there is one big caveat here and that’s the fact that tablets are usually shared devices. Moreover, in some regions, legislation and social attitudes towards adult content will also restrain the growth of the mobile adult industry. On the other hand, the move towards “multiscreen” experiences means that consumers may be reluctant to purchase content solely for the tablet.
Despite this and some other restrictions, average annual spend on mobile adult subscriptions for handsets will increase by 11% by 2015… And as usual, you can get more information from Juniper’s report, titled “Mobile Adult Content: Trends, Drivers and Business Models 2012 – 2017.”
