The world collectively held its breath last week during Apple’s iPhone 5 announcement. As usual, once pre orders went live on Friday, people lost their minds trying to get in on being one of the first to get their hands on the latest and greatest from Apple. Well, numbers for pre-orders are starting to trickle in, and we’ve learned that the Cupertino based tech company along with AT&T hit a milestone with the iPhone 5. The Death Star is saying the iPhone 5 is the company’s “most successful iPhone launch ever.”
AT&T also clarified speculation that Apple had supply issues with its latest iPhone. The second largest wireless provider in the United States, claims that the iPhone 5 has moved more overall units at this point than previous models, which dispels the phone having a limited amount of phones than normal — Apple is just selling a shit load of handsets. That’s all.
Here’s AT&T’s statement below:
AT&T set a sales record with iPhone 5 over the weekend, making it the fastest-selling iPhone the company has ever offered. Customers ordered more iPhones from AT&T than any previous model both on its first day of pre-orders and over the weekend.
iPhone 5 is still available for pre-order at www.att.com/iphone and will be available in AT&T retail stores beginning at 8am local time on Friday, September 21.
This is really amazing considering how practically the whole phone was leaked weeks in advance. It just goes to show that no matter what happens, Apple is going to continue selling millions of phones. People just don’t care, and I’m sure CEO Tim Cook knows this.
Who out there pre ordered the iPhone 5?
