Great news for Facebook users out there. The largest social network in the world is now allowing users to use FedEx to ship items to their friends. The new service is called “Ship to Friends,” and it offers shipping via a new Facebook app all within the site’s interface. Members will not have to leave the site. The crazy thing is you can ship a package to anyone. Both companies together create an awesome user experience that brings a quicker way for folks to send something to a FB friend since you can select the person from your friends list.

This is how it works. First, you have to launch the Facebook page, then you click on the ‘Start’ shipping button. Of course, like most Facebook apps, the FedEx application will ask for permission to use your FB account information. The following thing users have to do is choose the friend you would like to send something to, go to checkout, and enter your credit card information and then click on the button to Complete Purchase. Once that’s all done, you’ll then need to package the item and drop it off at your nearest FedEx Kinko’s store location.

Even though you can get the same type of functionality from FedEx’s own website; the app serves as a much more convenient way to send things to the people you communicate to the most. Ship to Friends can be used on the Facebook website and mobile application. Unfortunately, the app can only be used for shipments in the United States.
