Apple is about to hit 50 billion App Store downloads, the major milestone which will be celebrated with some cool prizes. A person who downloads the 50 billionth app will get a $10,000 gift card and the following 50 people will score a $500 gift card, bringing the total value of the contest to $35,000.
The Cupertino based company used the opportunity to unveil the top 25 free and paid apps of all time. The top paid apps list includes such titles as Angry Birds series (all versions are on the list with the original Angry Birds taking position #1), Halfbrick Studios’ Fruit Ninja, Lima Sky’s Doodle Jump, Cut the Rope, Words With Friends, PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies and Minecraft Pocket Edition.
As for the free apps, Facebook is ruling supreme at the top, with the list also including Pandora Radio, Instagram, YouTube, Skype, Words With Friends Free, Twitter, and free editions of Temple Run and Angry Birds.
