Most phones at this price point ship with Android 13 or 14 and call it a day. The Honor X6e said no to that. As reported by Gadgets360, the X6e runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, which is a genuinely surprising move for a phone sitting at RM 699 in Malaysia, that’s around Rs. 16,000. One variant, one price, no confusion.
So why does this matter? Budget phones typically get the software scraps. Brands push older Android versions into entry-level devices and leave users stranded after a year or two. Honor doing the opposite here is a real differentiator, even if the rest of the phone plays it pretty safe.
The display is a 6.61-inch TFT LCD with a 720×1,604 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness hits 1010 nits, and you get Eye Comfort and Dynamic Dimming tech on top. That’s not bad at all for this segment. The screen also has aluminosilicate glass protection, which is better than nothing, though it’s no replacement for Gorilla Glass when you inevitably drop it.
Camera setup is straightforward. There’s a 50-megapixel main shooter at f/1.8 with up to 10x digital zoom, plus an auxiliary sensor. Selfies are handled by a 5-megapixel f/2.2 front camera with 2D face unlock. Nothing wild here, but a 50MP sensor at this price is respectable. Just don’t expect miracles in low light.
The phone also has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, which budget devices rarely bother with. Honor also claims Swiss SGS Premium Performance Certification for drop and crush resistance. Take that marketing badge with some skepticism, but the IP64 rating is a real, measurable plus.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C, OTG support, and a full range of satellite navigation options. The 4GB RAM and 128GB storage setup is the only config available. It comes in Midnight Black and Sunrise Gold.
Budget Android phones are getting genuinely competitive right now, and the Honor X6e fits right into that trend. Android 16 straight out of the box is the real headline here. Everything else is solid enough to make this worth a look if you’re shopping in that Rs. 16,000 range.
