ASUS Padfone 2 KitKat update

ASUS has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the aging Padfone 2, which will go straight from Jelly Bean 4.1 to the latest version of Android. Alas, this comes with a caveat and users will see their data disappearing like it’s nobody’s business. Something gotta give I guess; but we’re certain installing all…

Google won't allow Android Auto, Android Wear and Android TV customizations

The newly released Android “sub-platforms” — Android Auto, Android Wear and Android TV — may be based on Google’s mobile OS, but they won’t allow OEMs to change stuff around. Forget about TouchWIZ and Sense UI – Samsung and HTC (respectively) won’t be able to do those sort of things with their car, watch and…

The other day, Google announced its Android Auto platform and the first thing that came to mind is how it will sing along iPhones. Blu Products launches KitKat updates for few of its phones

July 2, 2014 by Dusan Belic - 3 Comments

Blu Products has started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat updates for few of its phones, including the Life Play, Life 8, Dash 5.0, Dash 5.5, Vivo IV, Neo 4.5, Studio 5.5 and Studio 6.0 HD. While we applaud the move to upgrade from Android 4.2.2, we can't help but notice that some of the newer Blu devices are not on the list. For one thing, we would expect to see the powerful Life Pure XL getting the spot in the first batch. Here's what Blu had to say about the move on its Facebook page: Dear BLU Fans, here are the models confirmed that will support Kit Kat upgrade. We're putting the final touches on testing and will begin releasing these in the coming days, one at a time. If your device is not supported at this time, we will do our best to do so in the future. We hope this clears the air on questions as to which devices will be supported with Kit Kat upgrades. Please remember BLU is always working hard to make our customers happy and constantly improving, unfortunately sometimes things take time. Thanks for your patience. Now that some devices have started getting the goodies, it's only a matter of days (or weeks) before every newer Blu phone gets to taste the KitKat...

Surprised? Amazon’s Gimmicky Fire Phone is a Flop so Far

July 2, 2014 by Ian Kersey - 2 Comments

Surprised? Amazon’s 3D-ish smartphone, the Amazon Fire Phone isn’t doing so hot in the sales department. While we don’t have cold hard numbers to go on here, we can see that the Fire Phone is number 68 on Amazon’s Best Sellers in Electronics list, and that’s just the 32GB version. The 64GB doesn’t even make it…

US Cellular has cleared Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for two Samsung smartphones, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega 6.3. This isn’t the latest available version of Google’s mobile platform, though most users can’t tell the different between Android 4.4.2 and 4.4.3. The newer version mostly fixes some small bugs, so you won’t be missing much…
