US Cellular reiterates support for Windows Phone 8

US Cellular has once again confirmed it will support Windows Phone 8, with the first such device(s) apparently hitting their portfolio at some point next month. A company spokesperson turned to Facebook to spread the news without going into much details, like which Windows Phone will they get to carry. Microsoft hints at 7-inch Windows 8 tablets in the works

Microsoft has been rumored to be developing some smaller Windows 8 tablets, possibly within the Surface line, for some time. Today, however, is the first time anyone from Microsoft has spoken out about the possibility. During Microsoft’s Q3 earnings call, the company’s CFO Peter Klein said such tablets are in the works. Specifically, Klein revealed Microsoft is collaborating with OEMs to work on “a new suite of small touch devices powered by Windows.” According to him they will be “will be available in the coming months” at “competitive price points.” Read more

Verizon Customers Petition for an End to Contracts

Since T-Mobile began its Simple Choice plans, customers of other carriers have been clamoring for similar no contract plans. One Verizon customer, Mike Beauchamp of Wichita, Kansas, decided to go further and started an online petition on Change.org. As of this posting, it’s up to 74,369 supporters and rising. New details emerge about 41MP PureView Nokia Lumia EOS

Some new rumored information about the still unannounced Nokia Lumia EOS with a 41MP PureView camera has surfaced. This phone is far from a secret because reports about its existence and possible specs have appeared numerous times before. The latest rumors suggest it might feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and the phone itself might be sold exclusively on AT&T. A leak has surfaced today detailing Huawei’s new Windows Phone 8 offering, the Huawei Ascend W2. We have seen some rumblings of this device before, and the new leak brings us a detailed spec sheet that shows a fairly high-end device. Windows Phone 8 getting support for 1080p displays, quad-core processors later this year

Microsoft will release a major platform update for Windows Phone 8 later this year to include support for full HD 1080p displays and quad-core processors. This in turn would make Windows Phone hardware on par with high-end Android devices, which have been relying on quad-core CPUs for over a year. White Nokia Lumia 928 press image leaked

Few days ago we’ve shown you how the upcoming Nokia Lumia 928 will look like and now have it in another color – white. Again, Verizon’s version of Lumia 920 will rock a slightly thinner body (10.2 vs 10.7 millimeters), OLED-based screen and an additional Xenon flash that will likely be used for taking photos (cause we still have a LED-based one for video recording). Microsoft welcomes Facebook’s people-centric Android launches, suggests Windows Phone instead

In its blog post at the company’s website, Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Corporate Communications Frank X. Shaw welcomed Facebook’s people-centric Android launcher Facebook Home, adding that users are still better off using a Windows Phone. The reason, he says, is that Microsoft’s platform goes beyond Facebook, allowing users to also integrate their Twitter, LinkedIn and Skype accounts.
